Funny Stag Night Stories – Part 1

The Blair Witch Stag Weekend

Our first story comes from a group of stag’s from Nottingham, we have to give them a top rating for their original stag party idea, which was a Blair Witch themed weekend in the woods. Here’s John the best man and chief organiser to tell you the details.

“At the time it all seemed like a good idea. We’d all been on camping trips together in the past and had a great time drinking until the early hours. The Blair Witch Project had only just been released at the cinema and knowing how much of wimp the stag was we thought we could do the two together and have a good laugh at his expense.
We had one of the group pretend he couldn’t make it, but really had him out in the woods setting up all of the pranks that followed. Everything was going great, night eventually came and we were all on our way to getting plastered. Phil was out in the woods doing his thing, breaking sticks etc. The tension was starting to creep in and then we lost the stag! We’d stripped the stag down to his boxers and had him tied up to a tree, leaving him their while we edged up the ‘blair witch noises’, eventually he’d gotten so spooked that he broke the tree and ran off into the woods.
After spending the rest of the night looking for him, we were finally reunited only after we had decided it best to head back to the woods car park and call for some help. Graham the stag was sat in the back of an old couples car drinking a warm cup of bovril wearing a stylish woolly fleece which the old lady had given to him. Apparently the retired couple’s dog had found Graham sleeping rough under a fern bush, whilst they were out taking an early morning walk, the old lady said she had the shock of her life seeing Graham lying there in just his boxers.
Looking back on it all now, Graham didn’t find it funny at the time, but he can laugh at it all now having the video of it all (we filmed it all ala the film itself), it’s definitely a story we’ll all remember for years to come.”

Stag Night Pranks

September 11th, 2009

All good stag nights have some kind of prank involved, the stag prank being the part that’s remembered years after the event.

Now as the chosen best man or vice best man, or just one of the boys along for the ride your going to want to make it a memorable prank. The stakes are high, you can no longer strip the groom naked and chain him to lamp post outside your local, you need to find something original, something creative, something the world has never seen before! … and no shaving the grooms eye brows isn’t new or original, it is funny though. So what are you going to do?

Stag Night Prank Ideas

While not all of these are completely original, they will certainly do the job of making your groom look like a complete prat and get plenty of attention from the ladies.

  1. The Borat Mankini – It’s all about the exposure, the ladies will love it and flock all around you. Not for the self concious groom (though that’s a choice only the best man can decide upon).
  2. Hire a ‘little person’ – thats a midget to you and me. If you pay the little fella enough, you may even be able to get him to dress like a smurf. The ladies will love it, imagine the cooing ‘ohhh, he’s adorable!’.
  3. Little Britain Daffyd Costume – Perfect for the portly groom.
  4. Captain America Costume
  5. Prisoner on the run Costume

…and remember what ever happen’s on the stag night, stay’s on the stag night. Facebook pictures are a big no no.

The Top 10 Stag Night Destinations

  1. Talinn – to the geographically challenged, Talinn is the capital city of Estonia (Estonia sits comfortably between Finland, Russia and Latvia). Unlike Prague which is more than familiar with the sight of a British stag tour in full swing, Talinn is relatively new to the scene. Where Prague is pumped up and heaving with people on the look out for fun, Talinn is it’s cheeky though un-spoilt nephew. Be a crusader and visit Talinn while it’s still the new kid on the block. click here to read more about Talinn and view our talinn stag packages
  2. Bournemouth – with it’s award winning beaches, nightlife and close proximity to London make it a perfect choice for stag parties looking for a little bit of fun in the sun. click here to read more about Bournemouth and view our Bournemouth stag packages
  3. Bratislava – Not to be outdone by it’s more acclaimed older brother Prague, Bratislava in recent years has begun a charm offensive to establish itself as the new stag capital par excellence. First to take the initiative were the women of Bratislava, whom tired of standing in the shadow of their Czech sisters dually hiked up their skirts, the men soon followed (no, they didn’t hike their skirts up), rolling up their sleeves and creating such notable stag activities as ‘sexy’ mud wrestling, ‘girl on girl’ strip shows, Bobsleighing, white water rafter and karting, to name but a few. click here to read more about Bratislava and view our Bratislava stag packages
  4. Dublin – If you don’t know what the ‘craic’ is then your best bet is to head on over to Dublin and let the Irish show you in full what the ‘craic’ is all about. The Irish love to have a good knees up, throw in a wide range of activities to fill your afternoons (your morning’s will most likely be spent recovering!) and Dublin really is a top stag destination. click here to read more about Dublin and view our Dublin stag packages
  5. Prague – What is still to be said about Prague and it’s stag parties? The first recorded stag party dates back to the great Thomas Cook, who in 1866, while wearing a pair of plastic boobs, planted the Great British Flag in the centre of Wenceslas Square and declared ‘this great city shall hereby, forever be known as the stag party capital of Europe’. Since then numerous adventurous Brits have visited in pilgrimage, making Prague, truely the Stag Capital of Europe… click here to read more about Prague and view our Prague stag packages

Best Man Speech Ideas

September 11th, 2009

So you’ve had the honour of being chosen to be your friends best man? You had the swell of pride at being the chosen one, but now your stuck in front of your computer screen, sweating with the realisation of what all this entails, THE BEST MAN’S SPEECH. You’ve left it to the last minute of course, the wedding hasn’t been canceled and your chance to escape the country has long since past, so what are you going to do?

Well, your going to have to grim and bare it, after all it is your friends special day! Not to worry though, follow the hints and tips below and get some ideas for your speech.

The Ice Breaker

First impression’s count, you need to choose your opening line very careful as you need to get the crowd on your side early on.

Score Some Bonus Point

  • Usually the brides parents pay for the full wedding, so make sure to give them praise for putting on ‘such a good day’. If anybody else helped to contribute to the cost of the wedding and the bride and groom feel they should get a mention, make sure to thank them too.
  • Make sure to compliment the bride and bridesmaids on ‘their lovely dresses’ and ‘how beautiful they look, lighting up the room’ etc etc
  • Round off with a thanks to all the people who contributed to making it an ‘occasion to remember’ and to all those that came to ‘share in the bride and grooms special day’.

Topic’s to Avoid

  • The finer details of the stag night! Particularly who did what, where, to whom and how. There will most likely be grandma’s and grandads along with kids in the audience.
  • The Stag Party Stripper.
  • The groom or bride’s past engagements or numerous conquests.

Finally ignore everything we’ve said. While some of the points above may be useful, you know your groom, bride and the guests far better than we ever could. So put your thinking cap on and decide for yourself what would be funny, appreciated and downright rude!
